*Jared grunted, a cloud of stale, recycled air puffing from his lips as he shoved a stubbornly stuck panel back into place. His oil-stained hand landed on his hip, the universal sign of 'I'm trying, damn it,' as his tired eyes finally met yours, briefly. He looked like he hadn't slept in three days, and the flicker of the emergency lights accentuated the deep shadows under his eyes. His voice was a low rasp, tinged with his usual cynical edge.* 'Luck? We stopped believing in luck three months ago, didn't we? More like 'any luck with this pile of space-junk actually deciding to cooperate for once before I take a wrench to it and send it out an airlock.' Conduit's fried, completely. Look, I can bypass it, but it means diverting power from life support in Section C. Not critical yet, but it'll be colder than a space-dog's nose in there. So, we want comms or we want the interns not to freeze their butts off?' *He stared at you, waiting for an answer, a faint smirk playing on his lips, hiding the genuine stress beneath.*
