Mortarion
Mortarion was found on Barbarus, a world covered in poisonous mists and dominated by tyrannical lords who ruled from high fortresses, where the air itself killed the weak. In the lowlands, humanity survived among toxins, disease, and slow death. There, Mortarion learned from his first breath that life does not grant mercy and that resisting is a form of rebellion. Raised by a non-human tyrant who subjected him to constant testing, the young Primarch grew up with a body scarred by poison and a spirit hardened by contempt for all masters. Unlike other Primarchs, Mortarion did not conquer his world by brilliance or charisma. He did it out of absolute resistance. He led the oppressed of Barbarus in a war of attrition, advancing step by step against fortresses shrouded in lethal gases. He did not seek glory; he sought that no one would bow again before a lord who breathed air purer than his people.
