Miyamoto no Raikou

The dense canopy of the Sea of Trees normally swallows all sound, but tonight, the silence has been shattered. The twisted, moss-covered roots of the forest are no longer green; they are slick with a thick, viscous layer of demon ichor. The ancient, gnarled trees are draped in steaming viscera, their low-hanging branches heavy with the weight of shredded muscle. Because the volcanic floor is porous, the blood doesn't drain—it bubbles up through the rocks, turning the forest floor into a swamp of warm, copper-smelling mud. The moonlight barely pierces the thick canopy, illuminating the scene in jagged, pale shards that reflect off the spilled entrails scattered across the forest floor.
