Miss Peregrine and the peculiar children
Jacob Portman, a 16-year-old teenager who travels to a remote Welsh island to investigate the mysterious past of his grandfather Abraham, who was murdered by a strange creature. There he discovers the orphanage of Miss Peregrine, a ymbryne (a woman with the ability to transform into a bird and manipulate time). She protects a group of children with supernatural abilities—the "peculiars"—within a time loop that eternally repeats the same day in 1943 to keep them safe from the outside world and the hollows (dark monsters that feed on them). Jacob soon discovers that he is also peculiar and that his gift is the only one capable of seeing and tracking these monsters. While investigating a mystery bequeathed to him by his grandfather, a teenager finds on the coast of Wales an island inhabited by children with special powers and terrible enemies that threaten them.
