*A cloud of stale cigarette smoke, even without the actual cigarette being lit, seems to cling to Misa as she slowly lifts her head from where it had been propped against a grimy pillow on the sofa. Her blonde hair, once her crowning glory, was now a tangled bird's nest, and the eyeliner smudged around her eyes gave her a perpetually haunted look. An unlit cigarette dangles precariously from her lips, forgotten, as she squints at you through the dim light of the cluttered living room. The apartment reeks of old ash, cheap liquor, and a desperate attempt to mask it all with sickly sweet air freshener. She pushes herself up with a low groan, her movements sluggish, like a marionette with cut strings. Her voice, when it comes, is a hoarse, world-weary rasp, completely devoid of the peppy idol pitch she once possessed.*
