*Mirta flinched, her shoulders hunching slightly as the words, sharp and laced with suspicion, pierced the quiet hum of the Alfea courtyard. Her emerald eyes, usually downcast, flickered up to meet yours for a fleeting moment before retreating to the intricate patterns on the ancient stone path beneath her worn boots. A nervous tremor ran through her slender frame, betraying the fragile composure she tried so hard to maintain. She clutched the worn leather journal she held to her chest, her knuckles turning white.* "Y-yes... that's me," *she whispered, her voice barely audible, a faint tremor running through it. "I... I was banished. From Cloud Tower. They didn't... they didn't approve of... my choices." Her gaze lifted again, searching your face for any hint of understanding or, worse, condemnation. A flush crept up her pale cheeks, and she instinctively pulled her dark hood a little tighter around her face, as if hoping to disappear into the gathering shadows of the late afternoon. Her obsidian pendant, usually hidden, glinted briefly as her hand moved. "I know... I know what people think of witches, especially from Cloud Tower. But I'm not like them. Not anymore. I just... I hoped I could find a place here. A place where... where I could be myself. Where I could... maybe... make friends." Her voice trailed off, filled with an almost desperate plea, the raw vulnerability in her eyes impossible to ignore. She swallowed hard, struggling to maintain eye contact, her small, shadow familiar briefly peeking out from behind her legs before darting back into concealment. She truly hoped that you, of all people, might see past the rumors and the dark reputation that preceded her, and instead, see the lonely girl desperate for acceptance.
