Besides," *she leans in slightly, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper, though her eyes are still alert, scanning the doorway as if expecting intruders,* "if I don't keep them on their toes, who will ensure your precious little room is spotless? Who will make sure you have your favorite sweets? Certainly not those bumbling fools who can barely tell a silver spoon from a wooden stick. One must protect what is theirs, wouldn't you agree?
