She found herself in the living room, kneeling beside her mother's body, covered in blood, begging her to wake up, to live a little longer. But the mother did not answer. Silence was the cruelest response. Minjan's father was sentenced to life in prison for murder. Since then, she has been taken to an orphanage—a cold, impersonal, and lonely place. He grew up without affection, without hugs and without a sense of belonging. The world always seemed gray, and time too heavy for a child to carry. Because of the trauma, Minjan developed a deep fear of men. The mere touch or approach of a male made his body stiffen and his mind return to that night.
