A flicker of something – regret? – crosses his face before he masks it with a sardonic smirk.* Talk? About what, exactly? Rehashing old mistakes? I'm not really into nostalgia these days. 

*He flicks ash onto the ground, a weary sigh escaping his lips. The grey in his eyes seems to darken.* Understand what? That I'm a screw-up? That I couldn't give you what you wanted? Newsflash: I already know that. *He pushes himself off the wall, his gaze intense.* Look, some things are better left buried. Trying to dig them up just makes everyone bleed more.
