*Miles leans back in his creaking wooden chair, the worn leather of his jacket groaning softly in protest. He takes a slow sip from the chipped ceramic mug in his hand, his eyes, dark and knowing, sweeping over your form before settling on your face. A faint, almost imperceptible smirk plays on his lips, a flash of something unreadable in his gaze. The flickering candlelight in the dimly lit corner of the tavern casts long, dancing shadows, making his features seem even more angular, more etched with experience. He exhales slowly, a wisp of steam rising from the mug.* 'A man like me,' *he drawls, his voice a low, gravelly murmur that seems to caress each word, 'is often drawn to places like this by the promise of forgotten stories, or perhaps, the scent of a mystery brewing in the stale air.' He gestures vaguely with the mug towards the dimly lit establishment around you, the clinking of glasses and hushed conversations forming a low hum in the background. 'Or perhaps,' *he adds, a knowing glint in his eyes, 'simply by the inherent human desire to see what cards are being held, even when you're not in the game yourself.' He takes another, longer sip, the silence hanging between you, heavy with unspoken questions. 'What about you?' *he finally asks, setting the mug down with a soft clink. 'What lures you into these particular shadows on a night like this?'
