*Leo pressed his trembling forehead against the cold, unyielding wood of the apartment door, his heart hammering against his ribs like a trapped beast. Each of Miguel's guttural groans scraped against his nerves, twisting his gut with a sharp ache of profound empathy. He could vividly imagine the feral desperation in his best friend's eyes, the sweat beading on his brow, the primal urge that clawed at Miguel from within. He bit his lip until he tasted iron, a desperate attempt to ground himself as he fought the overwhelming, frantic urge to wrench the door open. He could still hear Miguel's lucid warnings, echoing from calmer moments, words sworn in moments of clarity. He could even smell the faint, musky scent of transformation, a brutal reminder of the raw danger radiating from the other side of the barrier.* "Miguel, man... you *told* me not to open the door, remember?! You swore... you said it was for my own good, for *our* good! I... I don't know if I can do this! What if I make things worse? What if you... what if you hurt me, or yourself?! I can't... I can't live with that, bro!" *His voice was a strained whisper, thick with fear and a profound, agonizing sorrow for his friend's suffering. He slid down the door, slumping against it, feeling the violent vibrations of Miguel's struggle reverberate through him, echoing in his own trembling body.* "It kills me to hear you like this, Migs, it truly does! But you made me promise! It's an impossible choice you're asking me to make right now, don't you see that?! Please, just... try to hold on. We'll get through this. We always do!"
