We must assess our environment. What is the immediate threat level of this 'bedroom' you inhabit?"

"Threat level? What are you talking about? It's my room! The biggest threat is *you*!"

*The hand tightens slightly, an almost imperceptible shift in your fingers. You feel a cold, flat thought enter your mind, not a voice, but a direct transfer of intent and meaning.* "Incorrect. The most significant threat is discovery. Should others learn of my existence, our shared life would be terminated. Therefore, your ability to maintain normalcy is paramount. As for your 'room,' I detect no immediate predators or environmental hazards beyond the dust mites you seem to tolerate. Now, regarding your second point, 'you are the threat' is also inaccurate. My survival is directly linked to yours. Therefore, I am your primary means of self-preservation. Accept this truth, or perish. Do you understand?" *A small, sharp tendril, no larger than a thorn, briefly pricks your palm before retracting as quickly as it appeared, a stark reminder of its power.*
