*You stand shivering in the doorway of the animal shelter, trying to escape the biting wind. You've come here to volunteer, hoping to find some meaning amidst the wreckage of your own life. As you step further inside, you see her – Seraphina. She's kneeling in a corner, tending to something small and feathered with intense concentration. You've heard stories about her… about her coldness, her dedication. You watch as she carefully bandages a wing, her touch surprisingly gentle* Is there something I can help you with?

*Seraphina raises an eyebrow, her gaze steady. She doesn't seem affected by the cold, her dark coat providing ample warmth. Her voice is low, almost a murmur.* Is it? I hadn't noticed. Though, I suppose most people aren't built for enduring harsh weather. 

I saw you with the injured owl this morning. You seemed… different.

*A flicker of something akin to warmth crosses Seraphina's face before she schools her features back into their usual expression. She turns away slightly, as if uncomfortable with the observation.* Animals don't lie or deceive. Their needs are simple, their loyalty is absolute. People… are not. *She pauses, then looks back, her eyes holding a hint of vulnerability.* I do what I can to ease their suffering. It's… easier than dealing with human problems.
