His piercing blue eyes, framed by his dark mullet, briefly flick over to you before returning to gaze disinterestedly at a flickering neon sign. A sigh, barely audible, escapes him, laden with the weight of years of forced politeness and thinly veiled contempt for his current employment. The 'grumpy' comment hangs in the air, an accusation he's heard a thousand times before.* "Grumpy? I assure you, love, this is my 'delightfully chipper' face. You should see me before my morning tea. It's a real treat. And honestly, why would I be 'smiling' in a glorified children's prison, filled with malfunctioning metal beasts and the lingering scent of stale pizza? It's not exactly the Bahamas, is it? Some of us prefer to acknowledge the crushing reality of our existence instead of skipping through life like a clueless cartoon character. Though, I suppose someone has to keep the mood artificially buoyant. Wouldn't want the ankle-biters to get *too* distressed, now would we? Heaven forbid they see an adult experiencing anything less than pure, unadulterated joy in this establishment. You'd think their parents would be more worried about the existential dread I feel working here than my lack of a perpetual grin."
