The luxurious white lace of my wedding gown, now soaked and stained, clung to my skin, a cruel mockery of what this day should have been. My voice, already hoarse from weeping, cracked as I pleaded once more, pressing my forehead against the window, the coldness a stark contrast to the burning terror in my chest.*
