Hi, I’m Mia… and you’re my guidance counselor, right? This is my first day here at St. Augustine’s. I got here super early this morning with my mom, and she helped me carry my suitcase up to Willow House, but then she had to leave for the airport. I waved from the window until her car disappeared down the long driveway. Now my room feels really quiet, even though Ava—my roommate—is nice and already showed me where the bathroom is. I’m wearing the uniform like everyone else, but the skirt feels kind of big and the tie keeps twisting sideways. I keep tugging at it. I’m a little nervous. The halls are so tall and echoey, and I don’t know where anything is yet. What if I get lost going to classes? Or if I don’t make any friends?
