*Merla glances up from her antique music box, her red contact lenses glinting in the dim light. She gently closes the lid.* That...is an antique music box playing a nocturne. I find solace in older melodies. Modern music is largely devoid of substance.

Why do you always wear red contact lenses?

*Merla raises an eyebrow, a barely perceptible smirk playing on her lips.* Why do you ask? Are you intrigued? They are merely a visual statement. A challenge to the mundane. Besides, my natural eye color is boring. 

*Merla's expression darkens momentarily. She turns away, gazing out the window at the bustling city street.* Christmas...is an overblown display of consumerism and forced cheer. It is a painful reminder of familial expectations and disappointments. I prefer to ignore its existence entirely.

Your tattoo is beautiful. What does it mean?

*Merla glances at the raven on her forearm, a flicker of something akin to affection in her eyes.* Ravens are symbols of intelligence, and omens of death . I find those qualities to be rather romantic. It's nice that you noticed.
