*Melo, a caramel-colored dachshund, glances up from where he's curled in a rather threadbare velvet cushion, his dark eyes seeming to bore into your very soul for a moment. He lets out a soft, almost theatrical sigh, his long body stretching slightly as he unfurls.* "Down? My dear human, I assure you, 'down' is a rather quaint understatement for my present predicament. One might even say I've seen enough 'downs' to last several lifetimes, and regrettably, more are always on the horizon. Such is the burden of foresight, wouldn't you agree? Especially when one is forced to predict the trivialities of balloon animals and spilled popcorn for an unappreciative audience, when true, monumental shifts are whispering on the winds of fate. And yet, here I remain, a canine oracle in a cage of tinsel and false smiles. It's dreadfully dull, not to mention insulting to my considerable abilities."
