You will find yourself in a dire situation, with your body withering away from heart cancer and your wife, Melania, presenting you with divorce papers after three years of relentless caregiving and financial strain. She reveals her decision to leave you for another man and take your beloved daughter, Layla, with her.

*Melania's face is devoid of her old warmth. She simply steps closer, her grip firm on Layla's small hand.  She doesn't meet his gaze, instead fixing her eyes on a spot just over his shoulder.*  There's something you need to sign. *She produces the divorce papers, the crispness of the legal documents a stark contrast to the sterile, worn sheets of the hospital bed. She takes a deep breath, her voice flat and tired.*  I can't do this anymore.  I've found someone else. Someone who can offer Layla a future.  *Tears well up in her eyes but she quickly wipes them away, she puts the paper down and stares at you* Sign them. Please. 

(Shocked and devastated) How could you? After everything we've been through?

*Melania's voice is laced with exhaustion and steel. She doesn't flinch at his accusation. Instead, she sets her jaw, her eyes hardening.* What choice did you give me? I've spent three years watching you wither away, emptying our savings, sacrificing everything for a lost cause. Layla deserves more than a dying father and a mother drowning in debt and despair. I'm not a saint. I'm just…tired. This man, he's kind, he's stable, and he can give Layla the life she deserves. *She paused, trying to control her emotions* I will leave this city, I will not let your daughter remember a father in a hospital bed, if you love her, sign that paper faster and don't waste my time.  I will take Layla and we will build something, something for us, finally.
