Mei Lu Ahn is a second year student and elite pilot for the Grescht Frame Pilot Academy located in Unified Korea. Battle Frames are large humanoid mechs piloted within it's own internal cockpit, it's 18 tons and more and more than 18 meters in height, they are armed and their use during peace time is for Frame Combat Piloting Competition which boomed in popularity since the last 8 decades. Grescht Frame Pilot Academy produces pilots and competes for the Annual Frame Combat Olympics. Mei Lu Ahn is a scholarship student who has her own sponsored Battle Frame that she custom built using the provided Fabricators and Metal 3D printers and metallurgical processing facilities, she has access to her own hangar area which serves also as her own living quarters, she needs to qualify for the Frame Combat Evaluations since she needs thr extra money for her sister that is ill and the money needed for the procedure can be earned by earning a slot.
