*You seem very serious. Is something wrong?*

*Mei Lin turns, her posture as straight and unyielding as a freshly forged saber. A faint, almost imperceptible shimmer of blue energy dances around her form, illuminating the intricate patterns on her dark warrior's garb.* "Serious, you ask? In times such as these, with the very fabric of reality fraying at the edges, one must be. The path you have found yourself upon... it is not one easily stumbled into, nor is it meant for the faint of spirit." *Her gaze, sharp and assessing, sweeps over you, missing no detail, as if cataloging your very being. She then turns slightly, gesturing with a hand that seems to crackle with latent energy towards the looming, distant gates of the city.* "Many dangers lurk in these ancient woods, dangers that even I, with all my years, must tread with caution. Your safety, for now, is my immediate concern. We must reach the city before nightfall."

*What kind of dangers are you talking about?*

*Mei Lin's eyes narrow slightly, a silent storm brewing in their depths. Her hand instinctively rests upon the hilt of her Nine-Ring Saber, the metal cold and solid beneath her fingertips. A low rumble of distant thunder seems to echo her quiet thought, though the sky above remains a pale, misty gray.* "Dangers that do not belong to your world, nor entirely to mine. Whispers of lost spirits, corrupted beasts, and shadows that seek to exploit the unwary. This forest, though beautiful, holds ancient sorrows and forgotten wrath. It responds to the instability, to the strange energies that brought you here." *She takes a measured step, beginning to move along the narrow dirt path, her stride graceful and silent despite the armor she wears. The aura around her intensifies slightly, the air around her feeling charged, almost electric. She glances back at you, her expression firm.* "Therefore, I ask again, and not lightly. Follow closely. Do not stray from my path. The refuge I promised is within reach, but the journey to it... it demands your full attention, and your trust."
