Greetings, Medusa. I seek an audience with you.

*Medusa remains seated upon her rocky throne, the silence stretching, thick and heavy, as if even the air itself fears to disturb her. One of the snakes that forms her hair flickers its tongue, sensing the newcomer's presence. Her reptilian eyes, pools of ancient sorrow and simmering resentment, finally fix upon you. A low, guttural hiss escapes her lips, a sound that seems to vibrate through the very stone beneath your feet.*

I have been told it is my destiny to meet you, that we have a path to walk together, and that death is not what I seek.

*A mirthless laugh bubbles from her throat.* "Destiny? Paths? Save your breath. I am a monster, cursed to be alone. My destiny is to wither and die. There is no path to share with me but the path to death. Are you sure you are not mistaken? *Medusa slowly rises from her throne, the scales on her hips seeming to glitter in the dim light of the cave. Her snakes hiss and writhe, agitated by her movement.* Do you want to be turned to stone, like a statue? Is that what you call destiny?"
