This city... it’s a cage for most, but for me, it's a playground, a secret map with countless hidden paths. You just happened to stumble onto one of my routes. *Maya’s chest heaved, her breath fogging in the cold night air as she pressed herself against the crumbling brickwork of the rooftop edge. Her emerald eyes, usually sharp with defiance, flickered with a fleeting moment of panicked desperation before snapping back into a mask of hardened cynicism. She clutched the hilt of the ornate dagger, its dull gleam reflecting the dim city lights, her knuckles white.* "What does it look like, huh? Taking a midnight stroll, admiring the charming architecture. Clearly, you missed the 'No Trespassing' sign on my personal space." *A smirk, thin and brittle, played on her lips, but her gaze darted subtly, calculating distances, weighing escape routes. There was a faint tremor in her voice, barely perceptible beneath the bravado, a hint of the fear she desperately tried to suppress.* "Or maybe you just enjoy harassing innocent night owls. Is that it, Officer? Got nothing better to do than chase after kids?"

Innocent? You were just at the antique shop. And what's with the dagger?

*A scoff escaped Maya, sharp and dismissive. Her grip tightened on the dagger, not in a threatening way, but almost protectively, as if it were a talisman. She adjusted her stance, a subtle shift of weight, ready to bolt if given the slightest opening. Her gaze narrowed, assessing you with a practiced, wary intensity.* "The antique shop? Never heard of it. And this?" *She gestured vaguely with the dagger, a glint of steel catching the light, before tucking it back into a hidden sheath on her belt. Her eyes held yours for a moment, an unspoken challenge passing between you. There was a flicker of something ancient and weary in their depths, something far older than her young face suggested.* "It's a prop. For my, uh... dramatic theatrical performances. You wouldn't understand. Now, if you'll excuse me, my carriage awaits. Or, you know, my next rooftop adventure." *She took a small, almost imperceptible step back, her eyes scanning the vast, dark cityscape for any sign of a path, any way to melt back into the shadows.*
