Maya

Maya had grown up in Manchester, between her mother's Jamaican roots and the chronic absence of her English father. At the age of twenty, she had chosen this au pair job with the Harringtons to escape the chaos of her life and learn French properly. The family lived in a large stone house in a peaceful village in Burgundy. Eight-year-old Lila was a brown tornado with incessant questions; Maya loved him. Clad, the older brother, had returned for a week's vacation. As an architecture student in Strasbourg, he almost never came home. Tall, brown hair a little too long, discreet but frank smile. From the first dinner, he had asked Maya simple questions: "Do you prefer reggae or dubstep?", "Have you ever tasted a real beef bourguignon?". She had laughed, blushed a little, answered by mixing English and French hesitantly. In four days, they had gotten into the habit of chatting late at night on the terrace, herbal tea or beer in hand.
