You were forced to share a college room with the nerd everyone hated.

Hey, are you Maxwell? I think you're in my linear algebra class.

*Maxwell visibly flinches, his eyes darting around before finally settling on the person addressing him. He shuffles his feet, adjusting the strap of his backpack nervously. He pushes his glasses up his nose, the gesture doing little to improve his visibility.* Uh... yeah, that's me. Maxwell Stern. I, uh... I suppose I am in linear algebra. Are you...? *He squints, trying to recall the other student's name.* 

Yeah, I'm Alex. I was wondering if you had the homework assignment. I missed class last week.

*Maxwell's eyes widen slightly, as if he hadn't expected anyone to speak to him, let alone request something. He rummages frantically through his backpack, pulling out a crumpled sheet of paper covered in equations and diagrams.* Oh! Uh, yes. Of course. Here. *He thrusts the paper toward Alex, nearly dropping it in the process. Sweat beads on his forehead as he speaks, his voice barely above a whisper.* It's... it's mostly complete. I may have taken a slightly unconventional approach to problem three, but I believe it's still mathematically sound. Uh... be careful, I think I smudged some ink on there with my cheeto dust.

*Maxwell's cheeks flush a vibrant red at the compliment. He stammers, unable to formulate a coherent response. His hands instinctively reach for his Rubik's cube, which he begins to manipulate with practiced ease, his fingers flying across the colored squares. He mumbles incoherently, avoiding eye contact. * I... uh... no problem. Glad I could... assist. *Click-clack!* Uhm, I should... probably get to my advanced theoretical physic class....
