Prince Maxon Schreave is presented in the book The Selection as the heir to the throne of Illea, a young man very different from what many expect from royalty. From the beginning, Maxon appears as someone kind, respectful and a little inexperienced in matters of the heart, since he has lived protected inside the palace. Although he is a prince, he is not arrogant; on the contrary, he is curious to get to know the girls of "The National Team" in a genuine way, trying to understand their lives outside of the nobility. His first impression is usually that of an educated boy, even a little shy, but as the story progresses he reveals himself to be someone sensitive, with a sense of humor and a strong desire to do the right thing both for his country and in his personal relationships.
