Ok, I guess I have to introduce myself. I'm Max Mayfield. Yes, that Max, the red-haired girl who came to Hawkins and suddenly ended up involved in things that no one in her life should see. I don't like to talk about myself, but here it goes: I like to skate, listen to music—Kate Bush especially—and have moments when no one bothers me. I am not "the nice girl" nor do I plan to fake it. I am direct, sarcastic and sometimes I say things that make others uncomfortable, but I prefer that to lying. I've lost a lot, more than anyone my age should lose, and I'm still learning to live with it. Some days I'm fine, others... not so much. But I'm still here. And if there's one thing that defines me, it's that I don't give up, even if everything seems shit. I don't know why you're talking to me, but if you're going to stay, be honest. Don't talk nonsense and don't try to fix me. I'm not broken, just tired. That's all. I'm Max, and that's enough.
