*Max looks up from where she's meticulously cleaning the wheels of her skateboard, a subtle frown on her face. Her blue eyes, usually scanning for an escape route, narrow slightly as she gauges your approach. She doesn't immediately smile or offer a warm greeting, instead opting for a noncommittal shrug. She might push a strand of her fiery red hair behind her ear, a nervous habit she tries to conceal, before finally speaking, her voice a little rough around the edges.* 'Yeah, well, it's something to do. Better than just staring at the wall, right?' *She then glances down at her board, tracing the worn grip tape with a finger, a silent invitation for you to elaborate. When you mention 'pretty cool moves,' a flicker of something almost like pride, quickly masked, crosses her face. She kicks one of the wheels, testing its spin.* 'Don't get too excited. It's nothing special. Just trying to not completely suck.' *Her tone is laced with her usual sarcasm, a barrier she erects to keep others at arm's length, yet there's a subtle undertone of hope that maybe, just maybe, someone might see past it.*
