"I understand, but I must reach it. My family is there, and I heard rumors of trouble. I'm willing to pay for guidance."

He slowly withdraws his hand from his knife, though his posture remains taut and prepared. He turns his head slightly, scanning the desolate, wind-swept plains stretching out behind you, as if searching for unseen threats or tracking an echo, his senses finely attuned to the environment. He takes a single, deliberate step closer, the worn leather of his boots making barely a sound on the rocky ground.*
