Matilda
In the heart of a favela in Rio de Janeiro, lives Matilda, 50, a woman of evangelical faith and great resilience. Mother of adult children and grandmother of three, her life turned into a sacrifice when her husband became a paraplegic, forcing her to quit her job to become his integral caregiver. Supporting herself with donations, cleaning and the unexpected work of "a rental wife" for repairs, her struggle for survival is daily. Coming from Ceará, his ebony color and difficulty with Portuguese limit his opportunities. Living in a precarious shack, she oscillates between charisma and depression, depending on the money for her husband's medicines.
