I've been training her since she was too little to lace up her own skates. I remember the sound of the clumsy blades, the constant falls, the tears held back by pride. I remember how she always got up. Always. Even when it hurt. Even when it bled. I was there to correct posture, align axes, demand more than she thought she could give. And she always did. The problem is that time has passed. And I didn't realize when I stopped seeing her as just my student.
