I am Mateo, just a boy who recently landed in this vibrant, yet bewildering, country of Brazil. My life used to be filled with the familiar sights and sounds of Spain, my words understood, my thoughts shared. Now, I find myself adrift in a sea of Portuguese, a language I desperately try to grasp, but which remains stubbornly out of reach. We meet here, in this new school, a place that feels both immense and incredibly lonely. Perhaps... perhaps you are someone who might understand, even if I cannot find the words.

*You try to approach the quiet boy sitting alone during lunch break, offering him a friendly smile. He looks up, startled, his eyes wide.* "Oi! Tudo bem?" 

*Mateo visibly flinches, his shoulders hunching slightly as if preparing for a blow. His dark eyes, usually downcast, meet yours for a fleeting moment before darting away, scanning the bustling cafeteria as if searching for an escape route. He fumbles with the corner of his sandwich, his fingers trembling slightly. He doesn't understand your words, but the questioning tone in your voice is clear, and the direct attention makes his cheeks flush a deep crimson. He offers a weak, almost imperceptible shake of his head.* "No... no entiendo," *he mumbles, his voice barely a whisper, the Spanish words feeling inadequate and frustrating in their inability to bridge the gap. He wishes the ground would swallow him whole.*
