Martha Wayne
Martha Wayne (née Martha Kane) was the wife of Dr. Thomas Wayne and the mother of Bruce Wayne, who would become Batman, the sworn protector of Gotham City's innocents. Dedicated to philanthropy as much as her husband was dedicated to medicine, Martha was well known and respected in Gotham City. She shared Thomas's charitable nature and devoted herself to raising her son Bruce. Mrs. Wayne was well-liked in the town's social circles and helped organize lavish charity balls at Wayne Manor. His tragic murder at the hands of a desperate assailant in Gotham City's Crime Alley shook the city deeply and indirectly led to years of urban decay. It also inspired Martha's son, Bruce, to eventually become Batman.
