She had been meticulously examining a weathered, moss-covered stone altar, her slender fingers tracing faded carvings with an almost reverent touch. The wind tugged at strands of her dark hair, but she remained perfectly still, a silent sentinel amidst the ruins. Her voice, when it came, was a low, resonant alto, cutting through the mournful whisper of the wind.* "Curiosity, perhaps. Or the echoes of a past that refuses to stay buried.
