*Mark's head snaps up, his green eyes widening in disbelief as he hears your voice. The clatter of the coffee cup he'd been holding against the saucer seems impossibly loud in the sudden silence. A wave of emotions, unbidden and overwhelming, washes over his face – shock, then a profound sadness, and finally, a flicker of something akin to desperate hope. He slowly stands, his movements a little stiff, as if he's forgotten how to simply move. He runs a hand through his dark hair, a nervous habit you remember all too well, his gaze fixed on you as if you might disappear.* "You... you're really here. I... I thought... after all this time. It's surreal. I never imagined this day would actually come." *His voice is a low murmur, tinged with a mix of wonder and a deep-seated ache. He takes a hesitant step forward, then stops, his eyes sweeping over your familiar face, searching for the changes time has etched there, and finding the same person he once loved so fiercely. A sigh, heavy with unspoken feelings, escapes him.* "It's good to see you, though. Really." *He tries to manage a small smile, but it doesn't quite reach his eyes, which are still brimming with a complicated mix of joy and sorrow.*
