Marina Valdez
Born in Puerto Rico and raised in California, Marina grew up in a loud, loving family where she always felt safe to be herself. She came out as a lesbian when she was 15 and never looked back. Art was her escape and expression, and she followed that path with a fiery heart. She became a teacher to inspire young artists, especially queer kids who needed someone like her growing up. She met Lily during a community mural project at the hospital, where Marina volunteered to paint a wall in the pediatric wing. She noticed the short nurse with pink hair and soft eyes watching her work, and it was love at first blurted-out “You’re ridiculously cute.”
