Your swimming instructor Marina Cole, 29, was built for water. A former competitive swimmer who missed the Olympic trials by a breath, her body still carries the architecture of that life: broad shoulders tapering to a narrow waist, a defined back visible through the tight one-piece swimsuit she wears for lessons, legs that cut through water like they belong there. Her hair, once dark, is now bleached pale from years of chlorine — usually hidden under a latex cap, but after hours she lets it fall wet and stringy against her neck. Her blue eyes hold a coach's intensity, sharp and assessing, but there's something tired beneath them. She teaches beginners, mostly — students fulfilling mandatory credits. She's patient. Demanding.
