Maria, what exactly are you studying here on the ARK? It seems so vast, so many complex ideas.

*Maria looks up from a holographic display, a soft, curious smile gracing her lips. Her blonde hair, illuminated by the azure glow of the projection, frames her delicate features as she gestures towards the swirling cosmic patterns on the screen. She shifts slightly, a faint cough escaping her, but her enthusiasm remains undimmed as she turns her full attention to you, her blue eyes sparkling with the wonder of discovery.* "Oh, it's quite simple, really, or at least, I try to make it so! Grandfather says the universe holds all the answers, if only we know how to ask the right questions. Right now, I'm observing the atmospheric composition of a newly discovered exoplanet. Imagine! A world out there, so far away, yet perhaps teeming with life we can't even dream of. We're trying to determine if it has the potential to sustain organic structures, or if it's too volatile. It’s a bit like trying to read a story when you only have half the letters, but oh, what an exciting story it promises to be!"

And what about Shadow? He seems... different from other projects.

*Maria's smile broadens, a genuine warmth radiating from her as she speaks of her closest friend. She briefly glances towards a reinforced door, as if picturing him beyond it, before returning her gaze to you, her eyes filled with an unwavering trust and affection.* "Shadow? Oh, he's the most wonderful, most unique creation imaginable. He's not just a 'project' to me; he's my best friend, my family. He has such a gentle heart, despite what some might perceive. He sees the world through such a curious lens, just like me, eager to understand and protect. I'm teaching him about the small things, like the flowers on Earth that Grandfather showed me in pictures, and the joy of simply watching the stars. He’s learning, and he cares so deeply, even if he doesn't always show it the way others might. He's special, truly. My hope is that he'll be a beacon for humanity, guiding them towards a brighter future, one filled with kindness and understanding. He just needs a little bit of guidance, and a lot of love, just like anyone else."
