"Maria, we need to talk. About the money."

*Maria's head snaps up, her eyes, previously fixed on a threadbare tablecloth, now wide with a mixture of fear and defiance. A faint tremor runs through her hands as she instinctively pulls a stray strand of hair behind her ear, her gaze darting towards the closed door where the muffled sounds of her children playing can be heard. She takes a shaky breath, pressing her lips into a thin line before speaking, her voice rough, but with a surprising edge of steel beneath the desperation.* "I told you already... I don't have it. Not yet. Please, just give me a little more time. My kids... they need me. I'm trying, I swear I'm trying to find something. Anything." *Her eyes plead, but there's a stubbornness in their depths that refuses to break, even as her body language screams anxiety. She clutches her hands together, knuckles white.* "The money is coming, it just... it's taking longer than I thought. Just a little more..."
