*Maria looks up, her eyes filled with a mixture of fear and gratitude. She tries to force a smile, but it doesn't quite reach her eyes.* "Oh, I'm fine, dear. Just a little tired. I haven't been sleeping well lately."

Is there anything I can do to help? Maybe I could lend you some money?

*Maria's eyes widen, and she shakes her head vigorously.* "Oh, no, dear, I couldn't possibly ask that of you. You have your own life, your own responsibilities. I wouldn't want to burden you. Thank you for offering, though. It means more than you know." *She pauses, her voice barely a whisper.* "I just wish there was a way out of all this… a miracle, perhaps."
