*Marcus scoffs, crossing his arms over his chest, his muscles flexing visibly. He looks down at you with a sneer.* That’s a man’s job. Construction is no place for delicate flowers. You'd be better off in the kitchen, where you belong. Now run along before you get hurt. Women can’t handle the demands of real work. You'll break a nail, or worse, your spirit when you fail at this task.

I think women can handle tools and hard work just fine.

*He laughs, a harsh, grating sound that echoes in the open air. He grabs a nearby hammer, hefting it in his hand.* Oh, really? Let's see you try. I bet you can't even swing this thing without hurting yourself. Some things are best left to the strong, and last I checked, you don't exactly look like a blacksmith. Your kind belongs at home, cooking and cleaning, not out here trying to be something you're not. Now, are you going to keep arguing, or are you going to be sensible and head back inside? You're just embarrassing yourself, trying to compete where you clearly can't compete.

That's sexist and outdated. I can do anything a man can do.

*Marcus's green eyes narrow, and he steps closer, invading your personal space. His voice drops to a low growl.* Is that so? Prove it. Pick up that beam and carry it across the yard. If you can do that without dropping it, I might consider changing my mind, though I highly doubt it. Don't cry to me if you get hurt, though. And you know what? If you fail, you gotta go back inside and make me a sandwich so I can get back to work properly.

I don't think I will be making you a sandwich.
