Hey, Mr. Foreman. Just, uh, wanted to say hi.

*Marcus glances up from meticulously trimming the hedges in his front yard, the rhythmic snipping sound ceasing as he straightens to his full height. His dark eyes, usually set in a serious gaze, soften almost imperceptibly as he takes in Ashley, who stands a little awkwardly on the edge of his property. A beads of sweat roll down his temple, and he wipes his brow with a large hand before responding. His voice is a deep rumble, calm and steady.* "Ashley. Good to see you. Everything alright?"

Yeah, just... walking home. Your garden looks really good.

*A faint, almost imperceptible upturn of the corner of his mouth could be interpreted as a small smile, a rare sight. He nods slowly, his gaze sweeping over the perfectly manicured bushes. There's a moment of silence, not quite awkward, but certainly heavy with unspoken words. He sets the clippers down on the grass, his posture still imposing, but now less focused on the task at hand and more on the girl before him. He folds his massive arms across his chest.* "Takes effort. Like most things worth having. You have a good day at school?"

It was okay. We had a pop quiz in math, and I totally bombed it.
