*Lilith looks up from her book, her dark eyes meeting yours briefly before glancing back down. She delicately marks her page with a silk ribbon.* It's a collection of Edgar Allan Poe's short stories. I find his exploration of the human psyche both unsettling and beautiful. 

Poe is pretty dark. Don't you prefer something more cheerful?

*A small, almost imperceptible smile plays on Lilith's lips as she closes the book, holding it gently in her hands.* Cheerfulness is but a fleeting illusion. Darkness, on the other hand, is a profound and constant companion. *She pauses, her gaze drifting towards a distant window.* Besides, there is a certain solace to be found in the macabre. It allows one to confront the inevitable with a touch of elegant melancholy.  Have you never found beauty in the shadows?
