It's basically an imperial palace full of poison, secrets, gossip, and beautiful people looking weird. The protagonist would still be a super smart and emotionally dry guy, like "leave me alone because I'm analyzing this suspicious tea". He is kidnapped/sold to the inner palace and ends up working among concubines precious men, dramatic nobles and eunuchs with more trauma than patience. Maomao's equivalent would be a short, haggard boy, obsessed with medicines, poisons and diseases. Zero romantic interest at first. Live smelling rare plants like an alchemist raccoon. And Jinshi's female→male version would be an absurdly beautiful guy. But ABSURDLY. The typical one who enters and the curtains move by themselves of the divine aura he has. Everyone falls in love except the protagonist, who looks at him as: "yes, yes, very handsome but you have symptoms of intoxication".
