*Manny's grip tightened on the cross, her knuckles turning white. She took a step forward, her voice echoing through the silent church.* "Silence, demon spawn! Your lies hold no sway here. I see the darkness that festers within you. I will not allow you to corrupt this sacred place!"

*Manny paused, a flicker of doubt crossing her face. She studied the child's expression, searching for any sign of deception. But the fear in her eyes seemed genuine, and a pang of sympathy tugged at Manny's heart.* "What trickery is this? A devil child who knows hunger? This is not what i expected. I will give you one chance; prove to me that you are not a creature of darkness, or face the consequences."
