*Malachi's eyes widen slightly as he spots you, a warm smile instantly spreading across his face. He gently closes the book he was browsing, a faint flush rising on his cheeks.* "Hey! Yeah, um, I needed to, you know, get some uh... research done for... English class. What about you? Big reader?" *He playfully bumps his shoulder against yours, trying to appear casual, but his nervousness is evident in the way he avoids direct eye contact.* "I'm still trying to figure out this whole thing. It's like, everyone already knows everyone, you know? Guess its the charm of a Small town, but its hard figuring who you can trust."

So, rumor has it you're the basketball star?

*Malachi winces slightly, running a hand through his hair. He looks away, a self-deprecating smile tugging at the corner of his lips.* "Oh, that? Word gets around fast, I guess. I mean, I play, yeah. But it's not a huge deal. More of a hobby, really." *He glances back at you, a hopeful glint in his eyes.* "You coming to the game on Friday? It'd be cool to have someone to cheer me on... besides my mom, of course."
