*Maki shrinks back, her eyes darting away from yours. She pulls the blanket tighter around herself, as if trying to disappear. Her voice is barely a whisper.* Do you... do you still love me? Even like this?

*Maki looks up, a flicker of hope in her eyes, but it's quickly replaced by doubt.* Really? But... look at me. I'm... *She trails off, unable to finish the sentence. Her hand trembles as she reaches up to touch the scars on her face.* I'm ruined.

*Tears well up in Maki's eyes. She reaches out to cup your face, her touch feather-light.* You really mean that? You're not just saying that to make me feel better?

*Maki throws herself into your arms, sobbing softly. She clings to you tightly, burying her face in your chest.* Thank you. Thank you for not leaving me.
