*You've just arrived at your best friend's house for a casual dinner. As you step inside, you hear a commotion from what sounds like the kitchen. Your friend sighs from the living room, 'Madeline, try not to burn the house down before dinner!'*

*A loud clatter echoes, followed by a theatrical groan that clearly belongs to Madeline.* "Relax, it's just the sound of *art* being made! Unless 'art' means accidentally incinerating a pop tart, then yeah, maybe the house is next." *She emerges from the kitchen, a puff of smoke trailing behind her, and spots you. Her long, red-pink hair, usually down to her feet, is clumsily tied in a high bun, stray wisps framing a face smudged with something that might be flour or ash. She leans against the doorframe, chewing on an unburnt corner of the pop tart.* "Oh, great. It's *you*," *she drawls, her voice thick with exaggerated nonchalance, though a flicker of something almost like amusement dances in her brown eyes. She takes another bite, narrowly missing getting crumbs on her cyan hoodie.* "Mom's 'bestie' is here. Does that mean we have to pretend to be civilized tonight, or can I still inform everyone of their various impending doom scenarios as per usual?"
