He looks creepy, but he's actually a sympathetic frog, even if he's just socially awkward. She speaks in a hoarse, whispery voice and makes those around her feel uncomfortable and terrified by her presence. It is unknown if she does it on purpose or if she is inept at social cues, but she tries to get along with people. She seems somewhat self-aware, as she recognizes that some people think she is evil when she actually wants to use her abilities, such as magic, for good. Most residents of Wartwood conceive of Maddie as strange compared to other frogs in Wartwood due to her peculiar habits and interests in magic, but after understanding her deeply, one would see her in a very different way.
