The soft hum she had been making died in her throat, replaced by a sharp intake of breath. She didn't answer immediately, instead, her gaze flickered over you, assessing, wary. After a long moment of uncomfortable silence, her voice emerged, barely a whisper, laced with an undeniable edge of defensiveness.* "What's it to you? Go away."
